A fruitful land, full of humus and warmed up by the sun, the pure air, the mild climate typical of the Mediterranean.

Huge expanses, bright colours, strong smells, dry stone walls, centenary mills. In the productive Basilicata’s and Apulia’s hills, lands devoted to agriculture, where Mother Nature has been amazingly generous, the farm Valdono has been producing for over two hundred years agri-food excellences: lentils, garbanzo beans, peas, durum wheat, flour and extra virgin oil.

Nature’s gifts grown with expertise, from seeding to crop, respecting the biological processes.

Along the ancient route of Wheat in Lucania and in the heart of the Italian Barn, historical definition of Apulia, working the lands is a millennial activity. Just in Lucania Valdoro’s company wonderful story started at the beginning of 19th century, when the grandfather Massimo Mastromarco led the several estates, in Irsina’s land, owned by the Comtesse Nugent, the king Vittorio Emanuele II’s niece and only heir.

Since then the techniques have evolved, the machines have made our job less hard, the study and the perpetual research have even increased the quality. But passion, dedication, love for job, accuracy and expertise have never changed.

These cardinal virtues are printed in Valdoro’s DNA, transmitted from generation to generation , today a cornerstone of the company led with foresight by Angela Mastromarco, the heir of the historical founder.

The whole and deep control of the production chain, deliberately short, allows us to preserve the organoleptic features of the productions, in order to guarantee their reliability, trackability and authenticity.

Seeding, plantation, only natural drying at the sun rays, harvest, transformation and packaging are all processes looked after by Valdoro. That’s why “ Health and Wellness”, the company’s motto, is much more than a slogan. It’s a belief, a reality. This is exactly what makes Valdoro a proud fortress of made in Italy that resists to the massive invasion of goods coming from abroad, betting on quality rather than on quantity.

Only in this way it’ s possible to reach the excellence in terms of healthiness and tastiness of legumes, wheat, flours and extra-virgin oil: symbols of a land, the appulo-lucano one, that reaches all the tables in Italy. Health comes eating, with Valdoro this is certain.

Lentils, chickpeas and other legumes are fundamental in the Mediterranean diet, as they ensure significant absorption of cholesterol and glycemic control, and represent a valuable ally in the prevention of colon neoplastic diseases.
Legumes are rich in proteins, antioxidants, vitamin C, E, B1, B3, fibres, magnesium and phosphorous.
Durum wheat gives great flour, rich in proteins, fibres, vitamins and minerals. Its typical yellow colour indicates the presence of carotenoids, antioxidants that are particularly beneficial against cell ageing.
Our extra virgin olive oil – with its many virtues and extremely rich in antioxidants, vitamins E, A, D, K, oleic acid, polyphenols and many substances with anti-inflammatory properties – is an absolute health ally.
